But I never thought I would officially join the blogging world. For one thing, I was afraid I would become addicted far too easily. And, whether I want to admit it or not, I think I was intimidated. Man, there are some talented bloggers out there.
First, you have the crafty bloggers with all their tutorials and tips. Then there are the photography bloggers who make my pictures look like they were taken in the 70's...with a polaroid camera...in the dark. And, of course there are the deep thinking bloggers with all of their...well...deep thinking. And, my personal favorite (as well as my secret aspiration), those bloggers that make you laugh out loud.
When the idea of blogging started creeping into my mind (thanks to much peer pressure from a certain blogging friend), I knew that I would not consistently fit into any of the above-mentioned categories and that bothered me. I felt like I didn't have a reason to blog.
Then it hit me. You all are my reason to blog. I have friends on just about every corner of the earth (thanks to my time overseas), and I am somewhat terrible at keeping in touch with them. It's not necessarily the most personal way to keep in touch, but it's better than nothin'.
So, that is why I have titled my blog 'My Front Porch'. In my dream world, you are sitting next to me on my front porch (that I hope to one day own), rather than in front of this computer screen. And we are sharing about our day. The sun is setting and the lemonade is flowing and we are drinking in the moment. (And maybe, occasionally, I might even make you laugh...)
And so, here is what I would share with you today. It's a little video that we made of Griffin a few weeks ago, sharing some fun news. Enjoy! Oh...and Happy Valentine's Day!

Kaley, YEAH FOR YOU!! My blog should help you feel at ease...as I don't really feel I fit in any of those mentioned categories... but I am hoping that I will improve in my blogging style...for now, it helps me stay in touch.
So happy for your growing family!
Hey Kaley! (It's Kate) I don't know what you are talking about your a good blogger! I like the way you write!
We LOVE the video. FYI...we watched it at least 20 times this morning. Isaiah smiled every time Griffin said "big brother".
well, you may or may not be right that you won't fit into the crafty, or photography or deep thinker or funny blogger categories. time will tell. but i read through your first few posts and you certainly fall into the cute blogger category. c'mon ... that video? your writing about the sunshine? your blog title??? it's all so darn cute. thanks for sharing. i almost feel like i'm on your front porch ... drinking lemonade ... in the sunshine, of course.
Congratulations Kaley!!! It is cool that you will soon have a new little one. I am also very excited that you have started to blog. It is fun to read up on what my friends are up to back home. I haven't quite stepped over to the other side and started a blog. Still a little to intimidated but I love reading everyone else's. Maybe one day. In the meantime its great to hear how you and the family are doing. Congratulations again my sweet friend. - Charity
Kaley, I'm so happy for you! This is Lael Beckwith, by the way. I linked her from Tami's blog. What a creative way to break the news.
I totally identify with your feelings about entering the blogging world. I just started my own and decided that I had to decide I was doing it for me (and perhaps to save my friends having to listen to my verbal blogs). That way I won't be disappointed if no one cares. =)
